Show up and make something.
A few Saturdays a year we open a space and load it with tools: soldering irons, sewing machines, 3D printers, cardboard, hot glue, scrap wood, whatever's on hand that week. Free, drop-in, all ages welcome.
The schedule is informal on purpose.
We don't commit to a fixed monthly cadence. When a board member has the time and a venue is available, we run one. Usually a few times a year, weighted toward summer and school breaks.
The pattern is the same each time: 2-4 hours, a few tools and materials laid out, parent volunteers around to help, kids leave with something they built. Sometimes we have a theme (LEDs, sewing, soldering); sometimes it's open-ended.
The only reliable way to hear about the next one is the newsletter. Specific dates also show up on the events calendar.
Kids and parents at a popup maker space
We're always looking for spaces. Backyards, classrooms, garages, community rooms, anywhere with electricity, a few tables, and tolerance for some glue gun residue. Email hello@piedmontmakers.org if you're interested in hosting.
