PUSD teachers: apply for a share of $30,000 in STEAM grants

October 2, 2026 · Piedmont Makers

Teacher Grant applications for the 2026-27 school year are open to every PUSD educator through November 6. The form takes about 10 minutes.

Piedmont Makers will award $30,000 in Teacher Grants to Piedmont Unified educators this school year, and applications are open now. Any PUSD teacher or staff member, TK through 12th grade, can apply for funding for a STEAM project in their classroom.

The application is a short Google Form that takes most people under 10 minutes. Last year we funded 20 of the 27 applications we received, so the odds are good.

What we fund

We read STEAM broadly. Past grants have paid for classroom supplies, curriculum development, and professional development, from TK manipulatives at Beach to new physics equipment at Piedmont High. When we have to choose, we lean toward projects that last more than one year and reach a lot of students.

For ideas, browse the projects we funded last year. We want to hear from every educator, including people who have never applied before.

Timeline

  • November 6, 2026, 5 pm: applications due. Apply with the Google Form.
  • Early December: we review applications and announce awards.
  • By January: funds are usually disbursed, ready for the spring semester.

Show your project at the School Maker Faire

Every teacher who receives a grant gets an invitation to the School Maker Faire in the spring. We’d love to see you or your students present what you built with it.
